Many people take comfort in the fact that they have made provisions to assist their charity at the end of their lifetime. Leaving a legacy can be as simple as an insurance policy or bequest and they go a long way to ensuring quality health care will be available at Peace Arch Hospital for years to come. The following sections provide more detailed information about some of the giving options available. Gifts of Securities
Thanks to new legislation introduced in May 2006, investors can donate any security listed on a Canadian or major international stock exchange and pay no tax. In fact, donors can actually make money on their gift if the charitable tax credit exceeds the cost of their original investment.

Bequests
Bequest is a gift that is allowed for within your will to be paid from your estate. You can identify a specific dollar amount or a portion of the remainder of your estate to donate. Bequests are a wonderful way to leave a legacy that ensures quality health care will be available to our community for a long time. There may also be tax advantages to making a bequest; our planned giving professionals are available to discuss bequest options.
Trusts & Annuities
Trusts and Annuities can provide tax benefit as well as regular income during your lifetime without having to manage your own investments. Both Trusts and Annuities require a significant financial investment in order to create a reasonable monthly income.
Insurance
Beneficial Life Insurance Policies have the potential to generate large gifts with relatively low annual contributions. Life Insurance Policies can be created to meet any specific level of contribution, whether paid annually or monthly. Once you name the Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation as the beneficiary you can receive income tax credit for your annual contributions. You can also redirect an existing Life Insurance Policy to select Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation as the beneficiary.
Endowments
Endowments are a gift that can provide ongoing funding for an area of your choice. An endowment can be created with a donation of capital that is invested and the interest is paid to the Foundation to be used as you have designated. A gift to an endowment can be made during your lifetime or through your estate. Creating an endowment offers immediate income tax benefits in addition to allowing you to support an area of your choice for many years after making your initial contribution.
